The Travel & Tourism program is devoted to the study of the basic theory of travel, and developing the skills of a travel professional.  Students will complete practical exercises which simulate real work experience.  In addition, students will gain an understanding of:

The travel and tourism industry is fast-paced—and fast-growing.  Students can find careers as a travel agent, car rental desk agent, tour guide for motorcoach, airline or cruise ship, or as a convention and visitor bureau manager, to name some of the opportunities available.

Program Outcomes

Entry-level graduates with Associate of Applied Science degrees in Travel & Tourism from Sinclair Community College will be able to:

  • Exhibit positive attitude and work habits in the travel and tourism occupation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency on a reservation computer system at entry-level occupational standards.
  • Exhibit a knowledge of current literature and source material in the national and international travel and tourism industry.
  • Practice good human relations and sales skills on the job and in other interpersonal situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to book a traveler's itinerary using more than one means of transportation and going to more than one destination.
  • Identify the legal and ethical issues in the travel and tourism industry.
